2004-03-05 - 10:48 a.m. This makes me happy. The innane virus calls do not. I actually sat down and balanced my checkbook last night. Been a while since I've done that. It's also been a while since Shannon or I have written a check and not worried about it bouncing like a superball dropped from a third-story window. And we wrote a lot of checks. We got all our bills squared away, we're ready to put down the money on the new house, and we still have enough money for ourselves. Nice that this bass-ackwards administration our country has right now actually gave me something for a change. The Convention is fast approaching and I'm having mixed feelings about it. I'm excited in that it's going to be a good time, but I'm a bit worried. Perfectionist that I am, I expect everything to go smoothly and according to a certain schedule. It'll be a challenge to stay flexible in the face of players that are just as crafty as I am. I do expect certain things to happen that might make other people upset. But I'll do what has to be done. It's Vampire, after all; it's the World of Darkness, not the World of Fluffy Bunniness. Unless you ask certain Malkavians. This LARP has been going for 10 years since Rob took over, and it's been around even longer than that. Hell, Rob has been playing Live-Action Vampire since before there were rules for Live-Action Vampire. That's gotta count for something, Cam or no Cam. The Camarilla fan organization has its advantages and good points, but the end result is that our game is more free-form and laissez-faire, giving players more options and freedom. We have some Cam members coming this time around and I hope they find the LARP at CosCon a refreshing change. They're rather sizeable shoes to fill. But Rob & Ron (Rob especially) would not have turned the game over to me if they didn't trust me, trust my skills as a leader, an organizer, and a storyteller. Not just an ST, mind you, but a teller of stories... a fabulist... a bard, even. Hopefully I'll tell a story that everyone enjoys. Well, almost everyone. Can't please all the people all the time. Especially people on the phone. I really should stop making updates from work. Not that I've been updating that frequently anyway. I think all of five people read this.
